Drink Article - A Touch of the Irish

'Tis the month of the Irish my lass, so don't forget to wear your Green less you suffer the St. Patty's day pinch. Ah the Irish, they know how to make whiskey.... oh great your thinking, here she goes on another one of those spirited tangents.... and on a favorite subject of mine as well. Irish whiskey, there just isn't anything else like it! The Irish were the first to build a pot still and distill a new spirit which they named "Uisce Beatha", or "The Water of Life," now more commonly known as Irish Whiskey.

What makes this whiskey so much smoother to the pallet and engaging to drink may be that good ole fashioned Irish Spirit, or maybe they do know a thing or two about making good whiskey?!? And hey, they've had more time to figure out what they liked best as they've been making whiskey since the 6th Century AD. Officially, it was Old Man Bushmills that founded the first Whiskey Distillery in April 1608 when King James I granted him a distilling license. Thus, Bushmills has been making Irish Whiskey for almost four hundred years - that's a long time folks!......
